Daily Roundup 11/27 – DWTS Finale, Joey’s Victory, Jenn & Brooks With More Teasing, Carrie Ann & Derek’s Judging, Vanderpump Rules Back For Season 12 With New Cast, & Kelley Flanagan Speaks On Her Breakup

You are listening to the Daily Roundup here as part of the Reality Steve Podcast. I am your host, Reality Steve. Thank you all for tuning in on this Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. I think the next couple of days, your podcast, the Daily Roundup, is going to be a little bit shorter, just because there’s not a lot going on right now.

Today, we’re going to cover basically three topics. We’re going to cover Dancing with the Stars finale last night, the fact that Vanderpump rules, Season 12 is a go, but it’s not with the original cast. They are revamping the whole cast. It’s going to be a whole new group of people at sir. And then by the time you listen to this.

I believe Kelly Flanagan will have appeared on a podcast for Chicks in the Office, and for the first time, will discuss her breakup from boyfriend Ari Raptis. Something that she never even talked about when they were really together, other than just posting stuff. Pictures. I don’t even know if we’ve ever heard this guy speak in a video, anything that she posted, but apparently it went up last night at midnight.

So at the time I’m recording this, it’s not out with Kelly Flanagan talking about her breakup with Ari Raptis. And we’ll get to all that momentarily. It’s podcast brought to you by JLo beauty. Jlobeauty. com slash reality. Steve, let’s start with dancing with the stars for the first time in bachelor history, a bachelor. First off, made it to the finals. But secondly, as you know, by now, Joey won dancing with the stars. And I want to give a shout out to Kristen Bert, former podcast guest will be a future podcast guest.

Maybe we’ll get her on next week because as I said, in yesterday’s podcast, she went on Cheryl Burke’s podcast last week and Cheryl asked her, what’s your breakdown of top five and she nailed last week, what the top five would be. She said, Danny’s going to finish fifth. Well, she didn’t say he’s going to her prediction was Danny fifth, Steven fourth, Chandler third, Ilona second, and Joey first.

And that’s exactly what ended up happening. I guess I’m, I guess the only thing I’m surprised at is that Chandler didn’t make final two. I believe, and I think it just goes to show that this show itself, as we know, after 33 seasons is not about who’s the best answer, not saying that Joey wasn’t the best answer this season, because it’s debatable.

He was up there for sure. But when you watch it, Ilona had a better story than Chandler. Chandler was the favorite from the very beginning. The one with the dance background Chandler’s a better dancer than Ilona, but Chandler didn’t resonate with the audience like Ilona did. That’s why Ilona finished second.

We’ve seen that numerous times in the history of the show. So it’s nothing to bitch about or whine about. It is what it is. Look, they do make a lot of money by getting to the end of the season. I think we’ve figured out it’s somewhere between 350 and 400, 000. If you make it all the way to the end for your base salary, just to be on the show and then the bonuses you get every three weeks, I think the first three weeks is a 20, 000 bonus each week.

You make it. Then weeks four through six is 30, 000 seven through nine is 40, 000. Then you make the finals at 50, 000, but it’s each week you get that. So you just add that up. And it’s close to, I think it might be a little over 400, 000 to be honest with you, because usually you start with a base of just being on the show.

You make one 25 or one 50, regardless of that, congratulations to Joey. I have no problem with him winning. Do I think he was the best dancer on the show this season? No, but I do think he had a great personality. He was somebody that the audience could absolutely get behind. He wasn’t somebody that came in as a pro dancer.

He evolved throughout the course of the show. And I think that’s what this show is more about. Yes. You’ve had some seasons where someone who has professional dance background ended up winning. Charlie D’Amelio comes to mind among numerous others that have won in the past, but sometimes it’s just about the story and who improves the most and.

Who is a likable couple and everybody just loved Joey and Jenna from the very beginning you can just tell I said after the first Episode Joey’s making the finals. I said, I don’t know if he’s gonna win, but he’s making the finals and He did can we point out the fact that on his freestyle dance? Did Joey really dance to the Napoleon dynamite song when Napoleon dynamite performed?

At the talent show. That’s the song he did. That’s the song that Joey danced to last night for his freestyle. Right? All right. Whatever. Now I know a lot of people are jumping down, carry on and off his throat for. Basically shitting. Okay. She didn’t shit on his performance. She still gave him a nine, but she was the only judge that was critical of it.

And she said she was underwhelmed. I’m not going to lose sleep over this. Who cares? Joey won. It’s like, there’s no reason to bitch about Carrie Ann. Joey won. If he didn’t win and her vote cost him to lose, then maybe you could. But he won, so who cares what she, and especially when you get down to the end, and everybody gets 9s and 10s, or 10s across the board.

Look, Joey didn’t even get 10s across the board, Chandler did, I believe, in her final dance, so did Steven, and Joey didn’t even get a 30, and he still ended up winning, which goes to show, the judges scores don’t mean anything, when in the final episode, and the finals, most people are getting a 29 or a 30 out of 30.

So, You can’t possibly be like, Oh shit. Someone got a 24 in the finals. No, it’s never going to happen. You’re going to get nines and tens in the finals. So it’s going to come down to the audience vote. We know this. So it doesn’t really matter. And honestly, don’t jump down my throat here either. I don’t necessarily agree by saying the performance was underwhelming, but have I seen better freestyles than Joey’s?

Yes. I thought the tennis thing was corny. It didn’t really add to anything. You know, okay. You had glow up tennis rackets and you all swung them. That didn’t have anything to do with the dance. I under, I understand. Trust me. I’ve watched all 33 seasons. This isn’t my first season watching the show. I understand how the show works and your freestyle is supposed to be a culmination of a lot of things that happened over the season or who you are as a person.

I just think the tennis rackets didn’t add anything where I was like, Whoa, that was awesome. It was just, okay. Joey used to coach tennis. Now they’re swinging rackets in his final freestyle routine. Whatever. I I’d rather it because the tennis rackets had nothing to do with the dance part. Now you can say the same thing for Steven, him up there on the pommel horse had nothing to do with his dance.

Although at least. That was somewhat incorporated into his dance. I don’t know. Like I said, I don’t, I’m fine. The Joey one, I don’t care that he, I’m not mad that he won. And I’m not saying like, man, that final dance sucked. It didn’t suck. I just thought the tennis part of it was corny. And it’s not that I found the, I, I, I didn’t find it underwhelming.

I just thought in terms of just. The tennis part of it, the dancing part was excellent, but he won. So who cares what score he got? Uh, the Jen and Brooks dances Jen with Sasha Brooks with Gleb dancing to reunited. Both of them teasing a possible relationship. Let me just say this. I’m glad the show’s over.

Can we just either tell us you’re together or not? I don’t know why this is being carried out as long as it is. I do believe they’re together. I don’t know why they haven’t announced it. Who knows. I believe both of them are still together. Hell, didn’t I see a video yesterday of them during rehearsals?

I’m talking about Brooks and Gleb of Gleb picking her up. Brooks was wrapped around him in like the who Jew jump in a bachelor world. Her legs were wrapped around him and they were kissing. So they’re clearly back together. We’ve never seen Sasha and Jen kiss. They certainly teased it last night. But the final thing I want to say is criticize Carrie Ann all you want.

She is the most outspoken judge because she will absolutely bring down the crowd with her criticism of dances, whether it’s a lift, whether it’s calling a finale dance, underwhelming. She does it. She’s the only one that does it. Anytime Derek criticizes, he immediately gets out of that criticism by totally minimizing his criticism.

He’d be like, he just had a little sip there in the middle of you just wanted to, but everything perfect. Great. Bravo. Well done. Like he does it. Every single time he has a criticism, he immediately glosses over it in the very next sentence, and he almost fast talks through the criticism so he can get to, but everything else.

Great. You were outstanding. Loved it. That’s what he does. And for a guy who’s a, just an unbelievable dancer himself, I’ve always said that I’m not a huge fan of Derek’s judging. I’m not talking about his scoring. He just has a really hard time giving somebody criticism. Because it’s, you know, you’ve seen the two judges, Carrie Ann’s criticism versus Derek’s criticism is night and day.

Carrie Ann will just say, I didn’t like it, or I really wish you could have done better. I need to feel more emotion. I need to feel the musicality, something like that. Derek will say, yeah, your arm was a little bit, you extended a little bit here, get your hips, you know, get your chest out and get your shoulders out.

And, but anyway, anyway, great, great dance. Other than that, absolutely perfect. Like that’s the way he judges. Like. Different strokes for different folks, but let’s call it what it is. Carrie Ann will openly criticize people. And Derek just has a really hard time criticizing for a guy who has been a coach on this show.

I think he can be a little bit harsher. I know exactly what I’m getting with Derek. Sometimes with Carrie Ann, I don’t know what’s coming flying out of her mouth. And I kind of almost like it to a certain extent because Bruno’s Bruno. And then Derek and Carrie Ann are. Polar opposites when it comes to judging dances on this show, but successful season, apparently one of the most successful ones they’ve ever had in terms of voting.

So congratulations go out to Joey and Kelsey. Now they can go back to their normal lives and dodge all these stupid rumors that they are broken up. It’s just so dumb. Like she’s literally in the audience every week. They post about each other on Tik TOK. They post about each other on Instagram and people are dying for them to break up and just.
